About Me
Hi, I’m Julie Lake—a 2-time SAG Award–winning actor, best known for playing Angie Rice on Orange is the New Black. I graduated from Yale University, have performed in over 20 professional theatrical productions, and trained for years at The Groundlings and UCB, where I fell in love with comedy. I’m also a singer-songwriter and screenwriter. One of my proudest moments was when my original pilot was selected by SXSW—and I ended up winning the pitch competition!
This summer, I’m premiering my new play—with original music—at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It’s a true story about being both a mother and an artist, and it dives deep into themes of identity, longing, and creative liberation.
Alongside performing, I’m also a National Board Certified health and wellness coach and a creativity coach. I work with artists, performers, writers, and anyone who wants to tap into their creative spirit—whether that means getting unblocked, making something bold, or simply living more joyfully. I’m especially passionate about supporting mothers in reclaiming their creative power, but I welcome anyone ready to take risks, make art, and live with more authenticity and soul.
